Most callers are kind. A few are not. You have simple tools to protect yourself, and you never have to put up with bad behaviour.
Press # to end, block and report
At any time during a call, press the # (hash) key. This does three things at once:
It ends the call.
It blocks that caller.
It reports what happened.
You do not need to say anything first. You never owe an explanation for hanging up.
The AI also helps
AI follows every live call in real time. It does not look for a list of bad words. It tries to understand what the caller means. It knows the difference between someone describing a bad day and someone being abusive.
If it finds harassment, abuse, threats, sexual pressure or a scam, the call ends by itself and the account is flagged. No person listens to your calls, and we do not record them.
Scam awareness training
We give hosts regular training on spotting spam, scam and fraud calls. Here are some common tricks:
OTP asks. “Please read me the code that came on your phone.” Never share it.
“KYC update” tricks. Someone says your account will close unless you update your KYC. Or they send a link to “verify your account”.
Fake officials. Someone says he is from your bank, a courier, the police or the government.
Sextortion. Someone is sweet at first, then pushes for private photos or talk, and later threatens you.
Sad stories asking for money. “My mother is in hospital, please send ₹500.” Or they push you to buy a product, loan, investment or remedy.
Priya gets a call from a man who says he is from the bank. He slowly asks for her UPI PIN “to fix a problem”. She presses #. The call ends, he is blocked, and it is reported.
Never pay, never send money, and never share OTPs, UPI PIN, card or bank details. Hello Fraands will also never ask you for these, on a call, WhatsApp or email.
After a bad call
If something upset you, you can also report it. Our trust and safety team reviews it. Scammers are blocked across the whole platform.
