Some people try to cheat others on calls. They want your OTP, your UPI PIN or your bank details. This article shows you how to spot them.

The golden rule

Hello Fraands will NEVER ask for your OTP, UPI PIN, password or bank details. Not on a call, not on WhatsApp, not on email.

Nobody real needs your OTP or PIN. If anyone asks, it is a scam.

Lines scammers use

Watch out for lines like these:

  • “Sir, your KYC will expire today. Tell me the OTP.”
  • “Madam, I am calling from your bank. Your card is blocked.”
  • “Please click this link to verify your account.”
  • “I am from the courier. Tell me the code to get your parcel.”
  • “This is the police. Pay now or you will be in trouble.”
  • “Invest ₹5,000 today and get double money.”
  • “Take this loan, no papers needed.”
  • “Buy this remedy and your problems will go away.”

They may also say your Aadhaar number or card number is needed. It is not.

Slow build-up

Not every scammer starts with a scam. Some are friendly for 10 minutes. Then they ask for “just one OTP”. Our AI understands this slow build-up. It follows the intention, not only the words.

What our AI does

  • It ends the call.
  • The account is flagged.
  • Spammers and scammers are blocked across the whole platform. They cannot call any other host.
  • If they try again from a new account, we match and block them.

Hosts also get regular training to spot these tricks.

What you should do

  1. Do not share anything. Say “no” and hang up.
  2. Press # to end the call, block the person and report.
  3. Never share OTP, UPI PIN, Aadhaar number or card details with anyone.
  4. Tell us at report form.

Priya’s story

Priya gets a call from a person who says he is from the bank. He says, “Madam, your KYC will expire today. Tell me the OTP now.” Priya remembers the golden rule. She presses #. The call ends and he is blocked. She reports it. That is all she needed to do.
